Join us on May 8th, 2014, from 6:00PM – 8:30PM at the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco for the 12th Annual Human Rights Awards! The evening will feature dining, dancing, and a presentation of the awards.

This year Global Exchange will honor the 50th Anniversary of the Freedom Schools. Charlie Cobb, Freedom Schools visionary; Bernice Johnson Reagon, founder of Freedom Singers and cultural historian; and Phillip Agnew, Executive Director of the Dream Defenders will accept the award.

We are also honoring María Estela Barco Huerta, a prominent anti-GMO activist who has played a leading role in organizing Agro-Ecology Learning Exchanges in Chiapas, Mexico. Ms. Barco works diligently to safeguard the way of life and livelihoods of indigenous people, as well as create a working alternative to industrial agriculture.

We will also honoring the Cuban Five, Cuban intelligence agents arrested in the United States while infiltrating anti-Castro organizations openly plotting attacks against the Cuban people. Their trial, conviction, and subsequent treatment is best understood as a microcosm of U.S.-Cuba relations – and has been widely criticized.

We’re offering early bird prices on tickets until April 11th. Click here to purchase and learn more.

We hope to see you at the Palace of Fine Arts on May 8th!
